Shaila presented us with options that would best meet the needs of our team and came up with a workshop focused on mindful/somatic tools for stress reduction and embodied resilience. Shaila developed strong learning outcomes and delivered on each of them during her workshop.

Based on positive reviews from colleagues outside our institution, we reached out to Shaila to facilitate a workshop for our team that focused on wellness and mindful movement. Shaila met with us prior to the workshop so that she could learn more specifically what we wanted to get out of our time together. From that meeting, Shaila developed a personalized 1 hour virtual session that suited the needs of our team. During this meeting Shaila also presented us with options that would best meet the needs of our team and came up with a workshop focused on mindful/somatic tools for stress reduction and embodied resilience. Shaila developed strong learning outcomes and delivered on each of them during her workshop. We even learned about the annotate function on Zoom which we continued to use after the workshop during weekly team meetings.

STEPS Public Art
“Shaila brought an open sensitive and fun approach to these workshops grounded in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy knowledge…She offered methods to support the ongoing management of stress and anxiety regulation in a relaxed and approachable way.”

Program Director, STEPS Public Art
“Shaila hosted a series of Wellness Movement workshops for STEPS Public Art's Wellness Committee. These were a series of virtual workshops with 10-20 members of our team joining. Shaila brought an open sensitive and fun approach to these workshops grounded in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy knowledge. Not only did her workshops provide a physical break to move our bodies after being seated in our home offices for much of the day, but she also explained physiological responses to stress and offered methods to support ongoing management of stress and anxiety regulation in a relaxed and approachable way. I would highly recommend Shaila to others.”

Reclaiming Nourishment through Somatics/DMT Workshop
“… I also deeply appreciated the experience of making an enclosed space where we felt called to, filling it with positive affirmations and tying that into somatic movement.”

“ I loved the experience of moving/dancing to music and imagining a paintbrush coming from a chosen body part. I felt I could move freely, with a simultaneous intention of awareness of a body region that heightened my sensorimotor and proprioceptive awareness. Perhaps it was the small group size to start, but it was refreshing to feel comfortable moving without judgment pretty much from the start. I also deeply appreciated the experience of making an enclosed space where we felt called to, filling it with positive affirmations and tying that into somatic movement. I could feel how much of an embodied experience it truly was through my body, breathing, and energy awareness.”

“…I was looking for someone who could teach us some mindfulness exercises to reduce stress and anxiety. Shaila did just that in 20 minutes. We we were all able to feel Shaila’s warm, calm and gentle presence….Shaila has a special gift of connecting with people and making everyone feel at ease.”

“Shaila Khan facilitated a wellness workshop for my ESL faculty during the thick of the pandemic in February 2021. I was looking for someone who could teach us some mindfulness exercises to reduce stress and anxiety. Shaila did just that in 20 minutes. Even though the workshop was done virtually, we were all able to feel Shaila’s warm, calm and gentle presence. The faculty told me they felt relaxed after the workshop and that they were able to focus on their own well-being for a change rather than on everyone else around them. In May 2022, I welcomed Shaila back to our institution to run another workshop for a community event. She did a stellar job of nurturing a feeling of serenity and peace among the attendees. If you are looking for someone to bring some peace and wellness into your life, I recommend you contact Shaila who has a special gift of connecting with people and making everyone feel at ease.”
